Advanced user analytics allow businesses to evaluate competency levels and enjoy a return on investment.

Research has shown that the US, China, France, Russia and Japan are amongst the "countries that businesses rank as most likely destinations for new international expansion in the next five years". Ensuring global leaders can transition seamlessly into economically diverse environments is critical to organisational objective success.

Organisations are embracing change through varying work practices including long term relocation, short term assignments and international commuting.

The benefits for the organisation include:

  • Improved performance of international operations
  • To fill management/technical skills gap in the relevant country
  • Build a global way of working and approach to business
  • Build skills/experience at international operations
  • Provide assignees with training in specific skills or procedures

Tackling these challenges can be difficult for HR Departments. Mobilising the information in a secure manner so employees can access content before departure and while in country, is paramount to ensure consistency and reliability.

We have worked closely with our client's Human Resource department to develop a Cultural Awareness Programme for members of their international workforce that travelled both on short and long term assignments. Illuminate delivered engaging animations, accessible in advance of arrival and customised to the client's branding, focussed on core goals and project objectives. The advanced user analytics for individual staff members allowed their managers track their progress, evaluate competency & determine measured results.

A research report conducted in July 2017 by Research Plus Ltd (commissioned by Axa) surveyed senior directors responsible for global mobility at 250 multi-national companies in eight countries and, separately, spoke to 372 people in 11 countries who are employed to work on international assignments.

The basis for the report was asking the question "why". Why in a digital age, is the global movement of employees still prevalent.

Some interesting statistics:

  • 98% of multinational firms think "globally mobile workforces are important, and over a third (35%) say they are‘critical’, to allowing them to achieve their objectives."
  • More than half (51%) of businesses questioned, said sending staff on global assignments has improved performance in the international operations and 44% said it increases staff skills.
  • Three quarters of employers said that employees don't always want to move their family to another country and therefore become "international commuters."
  • Given the increased costs of international commuters, three-fifths (61%) of employers say pressure to manage international assignment costs has increased in the past five years.

Motivational concerns in relation to an employee's safety and security are stated as a concern when commuting internationally and may also be contributed by the fact that "cultural training still seems to lag behind other sources of support".*

The Global workforce is, as stated, critical to the delivery of an organisation's objectives. Ensuring that employees are aware of the cultural, political and economic environment they will work and live in, is crucial for their swift integration and as such, productivity.

Our experienced team at Illuminate work closely with our clients to understand these challenges, identify areas which can mitigate risk in relation to employee wellness and assist in the seamless transition in advance of their journey.

After seeing the quality of Illuminate’s portfolio and the highly competitive pricing, we were happy to move forward and have the videos made for the CMIT site. Kirsten and the Illuminate team were extremely helpful and flexible in doing whatever was required to fulfil our every need. The videos turned out great and we are delighted with them. We would be happy to work with Illuminate on future projects and highly recommend them to anyone looking to get promotional or instructional videos made. Special thanks to Kirsten for her excellent communication throughout the project!

The online video training fit well within our organization, allowing individuals to complete the course at a time that suited them. Our onsite trainer was very well suited to the role and engaged everyone in the practical demonstration. The training helped us identify some additional needs within our organization and become more familiar with the processes that need to be in place should a fire break out. Highly Recommended.
